  1. IBMPCL5.DRV readme

  4. BEFORE INSTALLATION
  5. -------------------

  7. 1) Your CONFIG.SYS file must contain the statement IOPL=YES for the
  8. IBMPCL5 device driver to install correctly.  If the statement is not
  9. in your CONFIG.SYS file, you must perform the following two actions:
  10.  
  11.   * Add the statement IOPL=YES at the end of your CONFIG.SYS file.
  12.  
  13.   * Shutdown your system.  When a message appears that says that the
  14.     system has been shutdown, restart your system (press and hold CTRL
  15.     and ALT and press DELETE).

  18. 2) The Extended Attribute file (.EA) for the driver must be attached
  19. to the actual driver file (.DRV) so installation of the driver
  20. will succeed.  This is done by using the EAUTIL.EXE program that
  21. is part of OS/2.
  22.  
  23. Use the command EAUTIL from a command line as follows:
  24.  
  25.    EAUTIL IBMPCL5.DRV IBMPCL5D.EA /J /O /P
  26.    EAUTIL IBMPCL5.HLP IBMPCL5H.EA /J /O /P
  27.    EAUTIL PCL5_FCF.DLL PCL5_FCF.EA /J /O /P

  29. Or use the command file (PCL5JOIN.CMD) provided to do this for you.

  31. Once, this is done successfully you may proceed with normal printer
  32. driver installation.
